With over 10 years of experience in wedding, fashion, portrait, and commercial photography, Philippe Lee has an unparalleled knowledge of the art behind taking a striking image. His keen sense of composition and lighting serves as the foundation for his bold, cinematic, and high fashion style of photography.
Philippe's international background, which includes growing up on four continents and being fluent in four languages, significantly influences his perspective on the world and photography; "Beauty can arise anywhere and in anything. From comic books to vintage black and white films to classic paintings found in museums, I am inspired by everything."
Prior to his career behind the lens, Philippe worked for 2 years in journalism and 10 years in executive management for various international 5-star hotels including the Ritz in Paris and the St. Regis and the Four Seasons in New York City. During this time, he was responsible for large-scale event planning and management. Because of his creative impulses, Philippe also took part in many of the aesthetic aspects of each hotel, including staging, interior decoration, and photo shoots. This flair for the visual led to his transition to photography.
In 2000, Philippe and his wife, Soojin, launched Jade Studio Productions, a breakthrough company offering an array of high-end services including wedding photography, videography, and in-house graphic design and book binding. Past clients include Vera Wang, Baracci Beverly Hills, the Ritz Carlton, and Grace Ormonde. In addition to a featured fashion editorial, Jade Studio Productions is the only studio to shoot three consecutive covers for the Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine. More recently, the company has flourished into a comprehensive production company working on projects including the commercial and the entire background footage for the Ubisoft "Rocksmith" video game, a documentary for Stanford University, an interior design photo shoot for Architectural Digest, a video for Robert Shapiro, product photo shoots for the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Bentley GT Continental, and a video for the New York City NASDAQ tower in Times Square.
In 2011, Philippe was selected for a panel discussion in Malaysia with the Top 20 Silicon Valley CEOs to speak on behalf of the image industry.
